  6. A. Installation:
  7.   The Auctioneer is installed by simply unzipping the files into a directory.
  8. The following example shows how to install if the aution zip file is on a
  9. floppy in drive A. Change any commands necessary for your system.

  11.     md\auction                    'make a directory off the root
  12.     cd\auction                    'change to the directory
  13.     pkunzip a:auc20e              'unzip the file, change as needed
  14.     auction                       'run the program

  17. B. New Features
  18.  
  19. 1. LAPTOP SUPPORT:
  20.   Monochrome laptops (or PCs) are supported automatically, the program checks
  21. for monochrome and if found operates in black and white. Laptops that support
  22. color with shades of blue, silver etc. may be hard to read because the shades
  23. for two colors are too close. To over come this, Auctioneer can be started to
  24. force monochrome. Execute auction with a /m to force monochrome, eg.;

  28. 2. SALE INFORMATION:
  29.    1. Local tax rate - optional, if zero will not appear on Bill-of-Sale
  30.    2. Country - U.S. or Canada (default is U.S.) Affects terminology,
  31.       eg. State for U.S. Providence for Canada.
  32.    3. Lots - Yes or No. If yes, inventory is input by Lot. Sale Recap then
  33.       reports tracking information about each Lot.
  34.    4. Save Bidder file to ASCII.

  36. 3. INVENTORY MAINTENANCE:
  37.    1. Optional Details of item, if Yes enter free-form details of the item.
  38.       Some word processing features apply, press F1 for Help.
  39.    2. Lots - If Lots is Yes in Sale Information, a prompt will appear for
  40.       the Lot Number.

  42. 4. BIDDER MAINTENANCE:
  43.    1. Tax Exempt - If Yes, tax will not be added to Bill-of-Sale.
  44.    2. Local Tax Exempt - If Yes, local tax will not be added to
  45.       Bill-of-Sale.

  47. 5. CONDUCT A SALE:
  48.    1. BID ON ITEM - New to version 2.0. Enter a bid on any item. When all
  49.    bids are in, select Enter Item to sell, enter the item number, then select
  50.    Pick Bidder. The system will then select the highest bid with the earliest
  51.    date (if bids were entered on different dates).

  53. 6. SALE RECAP:
  54.    1. OPTIONS - The Buyer, Seller, Lot, or Inventory recaps may be toggled
  55.    on or off in any combination. A recap that is toggled off will not be
  56.    printed  or displayed.

  58. 7. OPTIONS:
  59.    1. DEFAULT COUNTRY - The default country may be changed by entering U for
  60.    U.S. or C for Canada. Prompt for country may be set to yes or no. When set
  61.    to yes, the program will prompt for country when adding or changing Sale
  62.    Information, when set to no, the program will by-pass the country entry.

  64.    2. LABELS - Mailing labels may be printed from the currently selected
  65.    bidder file.

  67.    3. BACKUP - A full festured backup/restore program has been added to
  68.    version 2.0. ArcBack is a menu driven backup program that compresses
  69.    data file to make maximum use of floppy disk space. Do full or partial
  70.    backups, restore entire directoies or a single file.
